Temperature Management Problems

I usually start to close my vents down once the temp hits 200.Top vent about 5/16 of inch and the bottom I start around half way and monitor my temps.Make sure your lid is not out of round.I had a new kettle and te lid was not right out of the box.Place the lid on a flat surface and make sure you have no gaps.

No worries man. Did the exact thing with mine. Thought maybe let the coals get too hot or made them ignite by stirring them.
