 I have an old 22" Weber, not a 22.5" Weber. Has anyone tried to fit the Smokenator 1000 in the old size grill?

Is this the one with three vents on the bottom? I believe it will work as long as the tabs that support the food support grill are in the same location as the newer Webers.

I have a 1987 J model 22.5" weber, but it has no grate support tabs; it has an indent/lip where the grate sits in. Will the Smokenator 1000 work ok with this since there's no tabs to sit on? Will it fit OK in the indentation.

It's probably not going to fit without modifying the Smokenator.

Thx for the note. I think I'll order it anyway and see how close it is. Worst case scenario is to dump the oddball kettle and pick up a new one that I know it will fit in.
I'm smellin' the pork shoulder already...
