can someone tell me how high the hover grill is above the main cooking grate. new to the forum & donot have the smokenator yet. when we first saw this smokenator I thought it was the best thing since the crock pot. from what we have read here it seems folks have a hard time with the temps.

If I remember correctly I think there is about 3 inches of space between the main grid and hoer grill.I have no issues keeping temps. My temps even stay steady using the rotisserie with it.

thanks for the answer, no big deal on that, ordered my smokenator today. going to retire my uds, just tired of having to watch it all the time, besides we can put the kettle in the car trunk!

Your putting a uds to rest. I never used one but people swear by them and say it's like set it n forget it.
