How long will it go until needs checking

Folks - only used the Smokenator once with mixed results. If you follow the instructions, fill up the Smokenator with 45 briquettes and then put about 15 lit ones on top, roughly how long will you need to attend to it again?

The real reason I want to know is that I want to smoke through the night and want to see if you can get more than an hour out of it.

You would have to check the water pan every hour. I use the modified way. I feel the cavity almost all the way up and light about 12 coals. I have the small water pan removed and I put a bigger pan with water over top where the small one goes.
