I bought the Hovergrill kit with the Smokenator ....I'm glad I did ....I just did my first smoke on the Smokenator ...I smoked a good sized bunch of Chicken quarters .....The Smokenator came up to temp just fine, and I had some heavy duty clips that I got at Home Depot for $.99 EACH .....I got 4 of them ....They worked great and were easy to get on and off in a hurry ... I got my wood chunks in as well as my 60 charcoal pieces ... I had C. quarters on the hovergrill and also below it ..... The grill was COVERED with quarters .... I had faith in my smoking abilities so I went for it !!.... The coals did NOT last as long as published , but not to worry , I had plenty more ....What I noticed right away when adding water and charcoal was the fact that the chicken on the Hovergrill was darkening faster than on the lower grill ....The hovergrill was getting plenty of smoke, and it was hotter by quite a few degrees than the lower food grill ... My point here is that if you want a good smoke that takes a little less time , raise your food up higher as it will take plenty of smoke and will cook a bit faster ...I feel that I would have to bring the temps up if I did the same thing on the lower food grill , which would defeat the purpose and burn more charcoal yet !!..... I kept my upper lid temps consitantly at 230 degrees ..... Wish I would have checked my lower food grill temps ....We sat down to eat and my wife just continued to say "WOW " thruout the entire meal !!......My Chicken was "SMOKIN " to say the least !!....Jim
