 Is running the digital temperature probes through the OTS ash vent a good idea ? I noticed warnings that the lid can crush the wires.

I'm not a fan on it. Someone put a grommet in the side of the kettle that the probe fit in. It was pretty slick.

I just drilled 2 holes just big enough for my thermocouple wires in the side of my kettle and deburred them. I've been using it for a year now with no issues, no grommit or anything.
