My Smokenator 1000 with the Hovergrill should be here early next week and I cannot wait. I picked up some gloves and some rub that was mentioned on this site to try. Thanks for the tips! Anyone got anything good going on the Weber this weekend?

I have tried several rubs as well. You might not like the flavor profile of the Texas rub or you might love it. Don't limit yourself to just one brand. Try several and find the one you like best. I usually buy the smaller containers until I find the one rub I like. I have tried at least 4 commercial rubs and countless rub recipes. You need to also consider a digital thermo you can place at grate level to give you a better picture of what is going on inside your cooker. I like the gloves and I need to pick some up for myself.

I wasn't the most happy about ordering 2 pounds my first go around but made the most sense with the cost of shipping. I hope to try all kinds. The Nator should be here today, can't wait!

Did you buy two of the same bags? If you order and email or call Bill he use to let you have two different bags of your choice instead of two of the same when you order.

So did it show up yesterday? Good luck with it and you will be amazed at what you can turn out. Be careful or the BBQ bug is going to bite and that will be all you can think of and will consume you.

I already have the bug big time!!! jsperk I just did one bag to try it out. I did a beer can chicken the other day with it and the rub is amazing. ksu1971 it did show up but I was waiting on some other goodies to come in for the grill as well. I will start a new posting showing everything all setup. I will do the trial run today to see how my kettle performs temp wise. I can't wait to try a pork butt and work my way up to ribs. Come to think of it... I have never done a rack of ribs in my Weber, knowing low and slow is the only way to go. With some practice with the Smokenator, I can do this now. Thanks for your replies.
