Can someone explain which thermometer you're supposed to reference for temperature control?
I have the built-in Weber thermometer -- I guess it's the one called the dome -- and a separate thermometer stuck in the air vents on top like it shows in the Smokenator manual.
There's a huge difference between the two -- maybe 30-40 degrees, with the air vent thermometer much hotter. I'm aiming for about 225 degrees, so which thermometer should be reading this?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Also, I have found the binder clips a great way to prevent air leaks.

Test the thermometers in boiling water and make sure they read 212. Some also read the temperature at the grill. In our testing we reference the dome temp as being at the upper vent. We see about 30 degrees difference, but others have seen more. I only use the binder clips when I can't keep the temperature below 250 at the dome as well.
