Have any of you tried the Weber Work Table 7412? Does it prevent the lid from making a tight seal?

My brother has tried this and the results were less than desirable. It leaves too much of a gap and the lid doesn't seal properly.

I have the lid hanger and those shelves that mount to the side. The wrap around brackets do make it so the lid doesn't seal 100%, but I don't see why that's a problem. There seems to be huge concern here about that lid fitting 100 percent air tight. I don't see the importance. I have carbon steel smokers and none of them have doors or lids that seal 100%. It's still tight enough to close the vents and within minutes the coals go out when I'm done cooking.

I have the work table and love it. I removed it the first time I used my Smokenator in my kettle but decided to keep the table on the second time I used it. I used the same technique I figured out the first time I used the Smokenator to control temps and got the same results.
