I recently got a smokenator but I have one problem.... it's getting cold up here in Mass. I have seen wind discussed as an issue so ambient temperature must be a bigger one. Is there a minimum outside temperature?

The only thing ambient temp is going to effect is your burn rate. You will have to add coals more often but other then that go for it.
You are right wind is the major problem. Just get you a good wind block and enjoy smoked goodness all year long.

Yep...more charcoal, more often, same great smokey goodness. I go all winter here in CT.

I've used this solution on my gas grill to close down the full length vent for better temp control. Should work on a SN.
Buy a cheap 4'x6' welder's blanket, the kind made from fiberglass that's rated to 1000F. Wrap it around the Weber then secure with big binder clips or hooks. Should make a difference in dome temp and coal usage.
