I sold my stock SS hinged grate on my new Weber 26 OTG towards some cast iron grates from Craycort. Is refueling/adding wood on the Smokenator 2600 difficult with the four removable sections? It seems like the dimensions would interfere or be more difficult than with the SS hing.

I have the same craycort grates on my 22 weber performer with the smokenator. Didn't have any issues refueling. Get the lifting thingy from craycort and you'll be just fine.

Those look interesting, but so far i've had no complaints with the hinged grate for refueling.
I will say that on my 22.5, that while the hinged grate does work with the smokenator, it does NOT work with the hovergrill add-on. The diameter of the hovergrill is too big to have the grate flip up and stay without holding it open, rendering you one-handed...
I am either going to put it in a vise and bend the last few inches upward or just cut it off - it's not like i'd place any food right over the smokenator anyways, you know?

I was looking at getting the hovergrill since my weber can only take two rib slabs. I don't like the rib racks.

I was looking at getting the hovergrill since my weber can only take two rib slabs. I don't like the rib racks. NOW, I believe the hovergrill only comes in the one size - and if you were to use it with a weber 26.5 I think it would be no problem whatsoever. I eyeballed the difference that I would cut off of the hovergrill for my 22.5 and it is only 1-2 inches (mimicking the shape of the hinge separation of the main grate). It'd work fine on the large 26-er with no modification necessary. It's still a cool purchase, but i find it a tad odd that nobody at the company that makes both and sells both together every said anything about using both together. Still, I like my hovergrill. I'll just like it more when I can use the hinge with it in place.
