I just got the Weber 22.5, a smokenator and I am thinking about the Maverick ET732 since I will normally be smoking one large piece of meat at a time. My question: since the transmitter wire and probe on the 732 is a maximum 3 ft. long, where do you place the transmitter? It doesn't seem feasible to place it near or hang it from the kettle. Any expert suggestions?

Ron I always used to keep a folding tray table near the grill so I have a place to put utensils and plates of food as I brought them out and took them off. You can keep it almost next to the grill. I have since built my Weber Gold into a patio counter system so I have places to store all my charcoal and different wood chips. The tray table should work well for you to set the Maverick on. I just got an oak one for about $7 at Walmart for an other purpose. I'd just keep it out of the weather when your not using it. But it has brass hardware.
Sorry for the late reply.

I also drilled a hole in the side of kettle just above the top grate for the sensors to go thru. That way it doesn't get crimped under the lid, and you won't lose any smoke through it either if your worried about that.
