Just ordered my Smokenator yesterday. I've owned my Weber Kettle 22.5 for about a year now. Prior to purchasing my Weber I owned a large gas grill and a Chargriller off-set smoker. I got rid of both of them because in my opinion a Weber One-Touch is all you need. With the addition of the Smokenator I'm looking for even better results. Look forward to sharing this experience with you all.

Hello arniesbbq, and welcome to the Smokenator Forum. Like you, I used to have a Chargriller off-set smoker (COS = Cheap Offset Smoker) and I also got rid of it. The Weber + Smokenator combo is FAR superior in my opinion. I look forwarding to hearing how you like your new purchase when you start using it. There are many people here to help with any questions you may have, so don't be shy about posting. We all like to see pictures of what you cook, so please post in the S-View forum as well.
Again, welcome and congrats on your Smokenator purchase.

Hi arniesbbq and welcome to the forum. I have used the 22 1/2 Weber since the late 70's to smoke first with the baskets now with the Smokenator so have a lot of experience. Had an offset at one time but never really ever seemed to use it so got rid of it.
Please feel free to ask questions and also post pics of your successes and failures also. We'll be glad to help any way we can.

Hi Arnie saw down in the select your favorite meats to SN that you prefer ribs like I do. I prefer untrimmed ribs so I can trim them myself as you mentioned you did. Do you prefer any particular brand. My preferred brands here in NC are Tyson first then Smithfield. Both are good weighing about 5-6lbs. untrimmed.
Look forward to more discussions on this subject.

Arnie I'm on the western side of the state. I call the Smoky Mountains home for the last 22 years closest towns are Bryson City and Cherokee which is the gateway to the Smoky's. The county is Swain and 90 percent of it is National Park, National Forest or other parks and recreational areas. So we only have about 11,000 people spread out in two towns and a very large wild area.

Awesome. Went on a family vacation in the mountains back in the mid-seventies to a place called Maggie Valley. Any knowledge of it?

Sure do. It is about a 2 hr. drive east of our house. Very touristy now.
