Just a fun question to see what you like best to use your Smokenator for. I know everyone's answer will change from time to time, but pick what you like best now, and tell us why. For me right now it is chicken. I thought it would be ribs, but as much as I love ribs, I could eat smoked chicken every week. Quick and tasty, and it is Susan's favourite as well. You know how the saying goes; "Happy wife, happy life."

My favorite is pork ribs not just spare ribs but country style that don't take as long and can be cheaper also. Pork is definitely our favorite with chicken a close second.

So hard to choose.... :-) Chicken is definitely a favorite because it's quick and what I cook the most often!

I have to say ribs. I like doing pork butts when I have the time. Ribs are my favorite though. Pork spare ribs specifically. Uncut cuz I like to do all the trimming.

Only six votes so far? Hopefully this "bump" will get some more action.

Friends,
My vote was for the pork shoulder. If I get one that's modest in size, it doesn't take too long to smoke and I LOVE those Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches!

Friends, My vote was for the pork shoulder. If I get one that's modest in size, it doesn't take too long to smoke and I LOVE those Carolina style pulled pork sandwiches! Whiskey Charlie I just checked my local "Whole Foods" type market called Wegmans and they have pork shoulder roasts that are going for 1.79 a lbs. That's a good deal around here. Only problem is that it's a 6-7lbs piece of meat. Larger than anything I've cooked. Longest I've gone on a cook is 6 hours. What is modest in size for you, whisky?

pifjd see if the butcher at the store will cut it in half for you. Or you can cut it in half for yourself if they won't. A 7 lb. butt will take 10-14 hrs. depending on temp. you cook it at.
The 1.79 is a great price I stock up my freezer when they are that low. LOL

Jay,
There's a rancher at the farmer's markets up in Auburn that raises hogs and his pork shoulders run 3 to 5 pounds. That's plenty for me and the Mrs.
