Lashed out on a Smokenator 1000 a couple of weeks ago, and tried it out yesterday. Briefly pondered following the suggestion in the instruction book to do a dry run first but in the end decided to jump right in. 3.5kg pork shoulder for 9 hours. Very pleased with the result - smokey and tender. Served it up with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. Scored high marks from the judges.
Have the feeling I'll be spending a fair bit of time reading through this site over the coming days.....
cheers

Welcome Dagney and congrats on your first smoke. A pork shoulder is a very good place to start with the SN. I highly recommend keeping a notebook for a while to keep track of your vent settings, weather, whether it's sunny or cloudy when you stir the coals, add coals, sweep the bottom ashes and any other thing that might affect the smoke. This will let you repeat your settings for a while until it becomes second nature.
We also love to see pictures of smokes down it S-View also a description of what you did and the results.
Keep on smoking. It's addictive.
