The last several times I've used my Smokenator, the charcoal has burned at what I'd call a normal rate on one side of the chamber but very slowly on the other side of the water pan. I'm constantly moving brickettes from the normal burning side to the slow side.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks for any help, Bill

That's why there's a rod to move the charcoals around, it only takes a couple seconds so it doesnt bother me as much. I usually do it when i wanna check the meat, as long as u have your set temp it shouldnt cause for the meat to cook differently. Just keep an eye on your thermo.

It has happened to me only when I don't put much "effort" into stirring the coals. If I pay attention, and stir everything evenly, all is well.

I have experienced this several times from using natural mesquite charcoal. Start by putting the starter coals under the water pan. Stick with name brand briquettes like Kingsford. Also make sure to clear the ash under the smokenator by opening and closing the lower vents after stirring the coals.
All the best,
Ed
