Hi everyone,
I am planning to cook a butt, and I'm pondering whether I could also get a rack of ribs on a hovergrill above the butt. I have a 22 inch Weber, and it seems to me that the hovergrill won't be high enough above the butt for this idea to work, but I've never used the hovergrill, so if anyone does this using a 22 inch Weber, I'd appreciate hearing about how they go about it. Also, I'm wondering if this combination would create temperature control and time issues. I'd get the butt cooking around 4-5 AM, and then throw the ribs on at noon or so, thinking of serving sometime between 6 and 7 PM. I may be biting off more than i can chew.

The hovergrill sits 3" above the main grill. I would put the butt on the hovergrill and then do the ribs on the main grill. I would keep the grill temp in the 230 range and you should be able to get everything off at your 6-7 time frame. The butt will cook faster on the hovergrill so be sure to turn it front to back away from the S/N and upside down every couple of hours.
If the butt gets done early just pull it and keep it warm in a low oven. I mix it with a vinegar sauce.
Good luck and keep on smoking.

Thanks NC. I'm guessing it would be best to start the butt on the main grill, then switch it to the hovergrill when I put the ribs on.
