Wanting to build a workstation/table around my kettle. Has anybody done this? If so can you please post pics. Any advice? I want the work station to be on both sides of my kettle. Thanks!

4aces am planning one as you post. My thoughts are to keep any wood 6" from the kettle, wood is flammable and becomes more so over time. I will use cement board and 24" tile for the top surface to get the top closer to the kettle. I will leave a 2" gap at the top for air flow around the kettle. This leave only 4" unsupported for the cement board and tile an area I won't be putting anything heavy on anyway.
I will be putting in a sink and electrical outlet for a hotplate.

How does the kettle sit in the cut out? Is it just going to rest on the handles since the legs are removed? Are you going to make a special hook or something to rest the lid on?

I am leaving it sit on the cart it came with so I can pull it out to the yard and give it a good cleaning with a hose. The kettle will sit down below the counter tops but I didn't want to attach it to the counters do to the fire danger of the heat from it heating up the wood. I guess you could use angle iron and attach it to the uprights of the cabinets but I am leery of the heat carry through.

Looks Great! I like it. On the bottom rack you left out a board, any reason why?
