works best in a microwave a few at a time, and in a BBQ pit - due to not burning the toothpicks. But, if you're careful about flae-ups and cook indirectly, these can work on a grill. They are AWESOME! Turns out, pickled watermelon rinds are made in a sweet-syrup. Not easy to find but they were with the pickles at my Kroger. I have since found them occasionally elsewhere as a local mom-pop item at outdoor fairs where there are vendor booths. Still, not common. Look into the jars and try to avoid small chunks of rind. I can get this at Kroger sometimes; Start by soaking 25-30 toothpicks in water - the longer the soak the better. get a pound package of regular cut bacon. Prep the bacon by cutting down the center of the stack so you have slices half as long as normal. Pour the Pickled Watermelon rinds into a colander so they drain. Take one small bacon slice, wrap it around a PW chunk, fix in place with a toothpick. Repeat. near the end you will probably need to stack 2 small PW pieces. These can be cooked in the microwave (covered of course, maybe just 6-10 at a time), BBQ at lower temps, or carefully cooked on a broiler. If you use a grill, you will want indirect/low heat and need to watch carefully as the bacon fat will start a big fire. Basically, cook in a controlled manner until the bacon is done. I once thought I could simulate these and tried using pineapple chunks - they were edible, but vastly inferior. Seriously, my family begs for them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRoztZhKEnE
