???Just purchased a Maverick et73 thermometer for my Webber Silver. Where is the best place to place the probe cables, under the lid or down through the dome vent. I don't think the cables are long enough to go down through the dome?

Well, under the lid will probably create so air loss which will make stabilizing the temperature harder.

I used to run them under the lid. It made temperature control a little more tricky, but it could be done. Others run them up through the lower vents.
Me? I gave up on all of that. I have a BBQ thermometer mounted in the lid. I KNOW through testing, that my grate is 25~40* lower than then the lid thermometer, so I adjust via that that thermometer. I use an instant read thermo once in awhile to check the meat. Unless I'm cooking ribs, then I cook via sight. I gave up on super strict temp control too. I find no difference in any meat if the temp meanders around a little.
Whatever works for you. My Maverick has such poor range, I gave up on it.
