I am new to the smokenator. Got a couple racks of ribs and a couple chickens on right now. The hatch on the food grate (Weber Gold 22") is not wide enough when i open it to get the water pan out. The grate is sitting on the pan. Is there a solution for this?

Mine is the same way. I typically use an loaf pan sitting on top of the food crate. This allows me to have more charcoal in the Smokenator and well as more water so less refills. However, this is not perfect because when I use the Hoovergrill the loaf pan sits under the lip of the Hoovergrill. I guess it is just something we have to live with unless you notch out the food support grill.
